GPS trackers have a GPS modem and a cell modem. Trackers use the GPS network to obtain location data about every 30 seconds or less when moving (less often when stopped). The tracker , which the tracker transmits these coordinates, along with the unique device identifier, via wireless network to the mapping platform which plots the location of the tracker, and hence your vehicle, asset or phone, on a map in real time.
